UHEAA Launches "Ray of Hope" Program Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority is pleased to announce a new program to assist students facing challenges making their student loan payments. Called “Ray of Hope,” the program can help borrowers who are delinquent on their loan payments or foresee difficulties making payments. Student loan borrowers can arrange to temporarily reduce the amount of their payments or for a limited time stop repayment. “We recognize that downsizing, budget cuts, and hiring freezes are making it difficult for borrowers to make their payments,” said David A. Feitz, Executive Director of UHEAA. “We want to do whatever we can to help them.” UHEAA employees coined the name, “Ray of Hope,” from their experiences working closely with borrowers in these circumstances and knowing how stressful it can be for them. With minimal paperwork, Customer Service agents can review a borrower’s situation and help determine the best course of action to provide relief. Anyone interested in more information on “Ray of Hope” is encouraged to call UHEAA Customer Service at 801-321-7294 or toll free at 877-336-7378. Agents are available Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., or Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Any questions related to this Bulletin should be directed to UHEAA Policy and Training at 801.321.7166, or by e-mail to mjohnson@utahsbr.edu. |
