FY 2007 Draft Default Rates Released

Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority has learned that Federal Student Aid this morning distributed the FY 2007 Draft Cohort Default Rate notification packages. All eligible domestic schools enrolled in the Electronic Cohort Default Rate (eCDR) process were sent their default rate information and accompanying documentation via the Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG). Included was a Network Message that provides instructions for downloading, viewing, and printing the eCDR files. Domestic schools not enrolled in eCDR may download their default rate and loan record reports from the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) through the NSLDS Professional Access Web site.  For more information concerning the FY 2007 Draft Cohort Default Rate notification see FSA’s Electronic Announcement at http://ifap.ed.gov/eannouncements/020909DraftCDRFY2007DistributedFeb9.html.

FSA also announced the availability of Release 2.1 of the Electronic Cohort Default Rate Appeals process (eCDR Appeals) for the FY 2007 draft season. With this release, schools will again be able to submit their Incorrect Data Challenges (IDC) electronically. According to FSA, the eCDR Appeals application has been enhanced to improve performance and usability. Use of eCDR Appeals is optional for schools. The announcement about the eCDR Appeals process can be found at http://ifap.ed.gov/eannouncements/020909AvailabilityofeCDRAppealsRelease.html.

UHEAA calls attention to the timeframes for submitting CDR challenges. For domestic schools the 45-day timeline to challenge their CDR data begins on February 18, 2009, and ends on April 3, 2009. Appeals of Draft Cohort Default rates cannot be accepted after April 3, 2009.
