Review of Recent Announcements

As a service to its participating schools and lenders, Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority offers the following review of recent announcements and releases from the U.S. Department of Education, Federal Student Aid, and related sources. These reminders cover topics of general interest and importance that relate to the administration of federal student aid.

Electronic Announcements

Date: December 4, 2008
Summary: FSA issued a reminder to submit orders for 2009-2010 application products and publications. Materials are free and can be ordered through FSAPubs: www.FSAPubs.org.

Summary: FSA provided FFELP default rates for cohort years 2002-2006 by institutional type. The three types of default rates presented are Cohort Default Rate, Budget Lifetime Default Rate, and Cumulative Lifetime Default Rate.

Summary: FSA announced the availability of the 2009-2010 Central Processing System (CPS) Web Demonstration site. Containing preloaded test data for use on the site, the demo site can be utilized to demonstrate electronic application to parents and students or as an aid in training financial aid personnel.

Summary: On November 23, 2008, FSA launched a reorganized and redesigned Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site. This announcement addresses requests for clarification on a few basic items of interest.

Summary: Posted in PDF format were the 2009-2010 FAFSA on the Web Worksheets in English and Spanish. Use of the worksheets is optional but intended to assist anyone planning to use FAFSA on the Web.
