Two Important Training Opportunities
Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority is pleased to provide notice of two important training opportunities being offered for financial aid professionals. The first is a FFELP Webinar examining the havoc created by the current financial credit markets. The second is NASFAA Decentralized Training, addressing student eligibility issues.
Intended especially for financial aid officers, the free Webinar is entitled “Financial Market Turmoil and the Impact on Student Aid.” It is being presented by America’s Student Loan Providers (of which UHEAA is a member) on Friday, October 17, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. MDT. Representatives of the higher education finance community and a noted capital markets expert examine the effect of the current financial distress on financing postsecondary education and training. Topics include the impact on the capital markets that serve student loan providers and the continued availability of federally guaranteed student loans, as well as the range of services provided in FFELP to meet the needs of students, families, and schools.
Although offered at no cost to schools, the Webinar requires registration. To register online, please click here. UHEAA will also be participating in the Webinar. Anyone interested in coming to the UHEAA offices for the broadcast is most welcome. If you plan to attend this Webinar at our offices, please contact your school representative by Wednesday, October 15 to make arrangements.
On November 6th, 2008, NASFAA Decentralized Training will be offered by RMASFAA and hosted at Utah Valley University. The issues related to student eligibility that will be covered include database matches, veterans and members of the armed forces, drug convictions, changes in the 2009-10 Federal Methodology, changes to the construction of Cost of Attendance, and the impact of institutional policies.
The cost of the Training is $85.00 for members of RMASFAA, or $115.00 for non-members. Online registration for Utah or other sites is available on the RMASFAA Website: http://www.rmasfaa.org/docs/toc_training.html.
