Comments Requested on the IPEDS Web-Based Collection System

Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority calls to your attention an invitation from the Department of Education to comment on proposed collection of information on the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data system (IPEDS).  Although the Office of Management and Budget had already granted IPEDS a three-year clearance, the recently-signed Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) requires immediate implementation of several new institutional reporting requirements.

A number of substantive changes must be implemented for the spring cycle of the 2008-2009 IPEDS Web-based data collection, which opens on March 4, 2009.  Among other things, the changes are implemented to collect added financial aid data, data on students with disabilities, and additional graduation rate information.

Comments are invited regarding the collection activity requirements, the accuracy of the estimate of burden, how the Department might minimize the burden of data collection, and other topics.  To view the Notice of Proposed Information Collection Requests in the September 24, 2008, Federal Register, go to http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/2008/pdf/E8-22480.pdf.
