Official FY 2005 Cohort Default Rates Released
Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority has learned that FY 2005 official cohort default rates, the most recent rates available, were delivered to domestic schools Monday, September 10. The U.S. Department of Education releases official cohort default rates once each year. The Department’s electronic announcement can be found at the following IFAP Library Web address: http://www.ifap.ed.gov/eannouncements/0910Update05IFAP.html.

The Department sent two cover letters, the FY 2005 “official” cover letter and the FY 2005 “draft” cover letter. Institution may use the two cover letter files to compare their official and draft cohort default rates.
Also released by the Department of Education was the “Briefing on National Default Rates.” The briefing consists of four pages of graphs. The electronic announcement of the briefing can be found by following this link, http://ifap.ed.gov/eannouncements/0910NatlDefaultRate.html.
