New Manager of Outreach Programs

The Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority announces the promotion of Brian McGill to Manager of Outreach Programs. Phil Bernal, who had served in this position, recently retired from UHEAA. Brian has been serving as Senior Outreach Services Officer since November 2003 and has been instrumental in advancing UtahMentor, UHEAA's free comprehensive career, college, and financial aid resource for students, parents, & counselors.

Brian came to UHEAA from Riverton High School where he served as a school counselor. Brian received the distinguished award and recognition of “Outstanding Educator of the Year” in Jordan District, for the 2002-2003 School Year. Brian has also served as Riverton High School’s Boys’ & Girls’ Tennis Coach, and received the recognition of “Coach of the Year” from the NHSFAA, in 2003-2004.

Brian is a licensed professional counselor and has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Utah and a Master's degree in Clinical and Educational Counseling from the University of Phoenix.
