Notice of Proposed Rulemaking Concerning Student Assistance General Provisions

The Department of Education (ED) recently released a notice of proposed rulemaking, dated July 16, 1999, concerning student eligibility for Title IV programs.  The proposed regulations incorporate provisions contained in the recent reauthorization of the Higher Education Act (HEA).  The proposed regulatory changes impact the following sections of 34 CFR:

. Sec.  668.32  Student Eligibility-Home-Schooled Students
. Sec.  668.38 Enrollment in Telecommunications and Correspondence Courses
. Sec.  668.40 Suspension of Eligibility for Drug-Related Offenses
