Application Status Checks Go Toll-Free

The U.S. Department of Education (ED) recently issued an Announcement reporting that the Office of Student Financial Assistant is phasing out use of the toll phone line for application status checks, duplicated Student Aid Report requests, changes to the institutions listed on the Student Aid Report, and all other services.

Students may call toll-free at 1-800-4 FED AID (1-800-433-3243) for all services formerly offered on the toll line. The toll line (1-319-337-5665) will continue to be available for the benefit of callers from foreign countries who are unable to call toll-free numbers in the United States. ED asks financial aid offices to alert their students to these changes.
